First of all, I can understand maybe having a subconscious fear presenting in a dream about being bitten by a snake or an alligator, but a pig!? Not your average fear! Worthwhile to note, in each of the dreams I was the one throwing caution to the wind, trying to grab the snake by the neck and reach into the mouth of the gator and the pig.

Now lets clear the air right now about the snake. I know that the snake can sometimes have some sort of sexual interpretation. This is not the case for the two snake dreams I had. “Well, how do you know that Amy?”, some of you may be tempted to tease. Because it is my dream and I say so, that’s how! The message being sent was for the “bite” part, which is evidenced by the fact that I had follow-up dreams where the common factor was not the animal (irrelevant), but the bite. However, the animals may still have a contributing meaning to the overall message.

A dream of being bitten by an animal can interpret as overcoming an obstacle and gaining wisdom and insight; the bite representing as an instrument to inject that insight into the person.

So my dream interpretation:

Reaching hand into alligators mouth, encouraged by people insisting the gators are tame, but doubting that they are and being bitten: Suggests finally crossing that fine line and provoking an incident which I learn from. Also, to trust your own instincts.

Reaching hand into pigs mouth and being bitten: Suggests overcoming indulgences.

Capturing the snake and being bitten in the process: Suggests confronting fear head-on. I think the snake symbolizes the ultimate or all of the “bitten” dreams, so the other two dreams are encompassed by this dream. The alligator and pig dreams only presented in order to tell me what to focus on.

Taken alive, the great struggle imposes fast-approaching death to the captor.

Hope is gained with a young boy’s vision of Rappaport’s near arrival.

But not ”Lion, Witch, Wardrobe” McAvoy. . .  more like ”Atonement” McAvoy. . .  ’cept he was in the Navy, . . .  I guess that’s my bias shining through.

These buzzings were very intense, I felt it distinctively travel through my head until it disappeared in my sinus area. This morning I don’t have any sinus pressure, but when I awoke right after the episode, I did feel mild pressure there. I had never concentrated on it’s “travel route” before, so this was interesting to me. After the episodes, I realized I was dreaming, and I tried to wake myself up. Which I felt I had at first, I thought I was walking out of my bedroom into my dining room and my father-in-law was sitting there at my dining room table. Which scared me and sent me into “attack” mode, not because he scares me (if it were reality and he were sitting there, I would be glad to see him), but because it didn’t make sense that he would be there in my locked-and-alarmed house, so again my “old” thinking chimed in suggesting ”evil-trying-to-trick” sort of thing, and at this point I realized I was still dreaming, and I was able to pull out of it. . . before laying the beatdown on my father-in-law!

I’ve had these every now and then over the past 10-15 years, that I can remember. My first introduction to what they might be, came as a very impressionable teenager from my deeply religious mother. So I started off with the idea that these terrifying episodes were caused by “Satan” or other “evil spirits” attacking me while I slept. . . . gee thanks Mom!  Many, many horrifying “attacks” later, and with the help of some neurobiology basics, I finally was able to discard this debilitating idea.

I have never thought to check the internet to try to research what this may be, because how would I even begin to look it up! So today I googled the words “buzzing”, “head” and “sleep”, which took me to a post by Living Journey called Brain Buzz — My head just exploded!!!, which linked to a wiki article called Exploding Head Syndrome, and also a page with comments on similar experiences called The Big Bang in My Head. Enough information to suit my curiosity, but maybe a good place to start for those interested in further researching the phenomenon. Hopefully, scientists will figure this all out in the future. As I’ve heard, the brain is very complex, therefore, slow has been this area of study. . . comparatively.
